With the new year comes a big change. At the end of December, Perry Pidgeon Hooks pivoted to new adventures. After nearly thirty years as a book matchmaker, she is looking forward to meditating, campaigning, and serving others in new ways. She has invested the greater part of her career bringing authors and books together with corporate and government clients, using a business model that keeps the price affordable and puts books into the hands of those in attendance. She has initiated thousands of conversations, believing that everyone merits a connection. She has scoured publications and befriended authors, publishers and publicists to find the right books to meet the needs of clients. In doing this, she has generated a vast knowledge covering countless topics, from politics to perimenopause.
She is impossible to replace. Her wisdom and energy are boundless. Perry has spent the last two years training and educating the staff of Parnassus Books for Business to fill her shoes, and even with three of us and a robust database we will, no doubt, miss her insights and unstoppable energy.
In all of this, the most striking thing about Perry is her generosity. She has brought books and authors to so many schools and organizations in DC and to her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. She fights for justice and equality. She will continue to share her wisdom and energy, her connections and resources with others in new ways and we wish her all the best – and every good thing – as she continues her journey.
