Hook Book Events has partnered with A Wider Circle to deliver a new program featuring author events. The Bridge to the Arts (BTTA) program is dedicated to helping individuals and families pursue a new vision for their lives – a vision that does not include poverty – by bridging the cultural divide in Washington, DC.
Bridge to the Arts (BTTA) will bring participants to local events ranging from book talks and concerts to theater programs and more. BTTA will also work with A Wider Circle’s Center in Barry Farm to host discussions with local authors. For more information, or to support this program, visit A Bridge to the Arts.
The mission of A Wider Circle is simple: to end poverty for one individual and one family after another. We work in partnership with those we serve and with those seeking to help to ensure that every child and adult has the chance to succeed and the opportunity to live well.
The program’s next event will be held on Friday, March 4 at 4:00pm with Matthew Desmond, 2015 MacArthur “Genius” grant awardee, and his acclaimed book: Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City. The discussion will be moderated by A Wider Circle’s founder Mark Bergel. The event will serve as a community conversation on topics discussed in the book (poverty, inequality, and homelessness) as they relate to the work of A Wider Circle and non-profit organizations.
The discussion will conclude with a book signing by Matthew Desmond. Free copies of Evicted will be available to the first 50 attendees.
